Installing an EIDE HDU along side a SATA unit

Can anyone help? I’ve just installed an EIDE HDU alongside a SATA HDU in my new pc. the EIDE unit will be secondary to the SATA one. My PC doesn’t see the EIDE unit at all. I’ve tried setting the jumper on the EIDE unit in various configurations but it makes no difference. Can anyone suggest how I can solve this problem?
