Installing different Ultra ATA device

I am running Windows XP Pro, and I went to replace my Promise Ultra ATA 66 Card with a SIIG Ultra ATA 133 Card and Windows XP keeps rebooting, just like it were a new PC with the same old system istall. Is there a way of fixing this problem without having to reinstall the operating system/
