Installing Hyper-v 2008 Server R2

I am a bit confused how Hyper-v runs on 2008. What is the install procedure is I would like to create new server?
Should I start by installing W2k8 Server R2 x64 on a server. After this is done I think I only will be able to access Hyper-V with Shell. I NEED the GUI. So I go ahead and install Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 as an application on top of the 2k8R2 server I had. Is this correct?
