I am running Win 98 on a computer with 550 HZ, 40G HD, 64Mb Ram. I just install the CD-RW. My computer properties says that everything is working properly. But, since this is the 2nd drive of the same kind that I’ve installed with the same problems, I think something is wrong. Probably the operatore. 😉 The previious drive (which I returned, thinking it was broken) cut 2 data disks and a disk copy. Then when I tried writing audio disks it quit working. The light just blinked constantly but nothing was written — on any kind of a disk after that.
The current drive does speed tests and reads disks just fine. But when I try to write a disk, using either Nero v. 5.5.5.1 or Roxio Easy CD v. 2.3.1.79 it will not work. Nero says the disk is being written and that all is well. But there is never anything on the disk, and no lights operate on the CD-RW during the write process. Roxio says that the engine is not initialized and essentially does not recognize the drive. I can not write any kind of a disk at all.
The drive is in position 0 on the SCSI cable.
Can someone give me suggestions as to where to go from here to make it write to the disk properly?
