Interactive logon process intialization has failed

Hi,
My computer has failed to start up at all with only the below message shown on a black background. I am running on Windows 7 Pro. have tried starting in safe mode, and it just wont do anything other than show the below error message.

“Interactive logon process intialization failed Please consult the event log for more details.”

Any help would be appreciated please.
