Interesting mapped drive issue

by netforce . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

One of my clients that I log onto remotely via “GoToMeeting” has a workstation with a mapped drive to the server.

The server is 2003/AD

Now the the mapped drive on the workstation is what I need to access to create and modify certain files for our gateway application.

I can access the drive but once I engage in any activity such as creating/renaming a folder it times out with this error:

“An error occurred while reconnecting F: to \\server\apps

Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use.

This connection has not been restored.”

Action taken:

I disconnected and then re-mapped the drive via “net use” command, but had the same problem.

This is not a latency issue via the remote session, since I had someone in the office try to access the mapped drive on the same workstation with the same effect while I was still remoted in.

Now here is where it gets interesting:

The application I’m upgrading is currently mapped to that drive and it is working.

How is it that the application mapped to the drive is working yet I cannot access the drive itself?

Yep, I checked the permissions too, there should be no problem.

Any help appreciated,

Netforce
