About 2 years ago we purchased the exchange server 2003. The first year was fantastic with little to no problems. During the second year, we’ve had to rebuild the FAT, reinstall the server, and unfortunately, are continuing to have problems.
Apparently, the server failed to receive the automatic updates from windows which is why the IT guys decided to reinstall the server. We are back on-line, but yesterday, the server again decided to shut itself down. What happens is all the sudden it sounds as if an industrial fan starts or a plane takes off in our file room, and then the server shuts down. Of course, we lose our server, our internet, everything. It does restart itself almost immediately.
We of course, have a dual power supply, as well as a battery-back up that the server is plugged into. Is it possible that one of the power supplies are out and the other is going out? Could it be that the fan is causing the shut down? I am at a loss as to what can be done next to prevent this from happening.
