internet connection

After removing a virus via spybot, my son’s pc will not connect to the internet and is running like a dog. He has a packard bell pc running windows XP, connected to a BT Voyager 20** ADSL wireless router via a USB connection. The ISP is AOL broadband. I have flushed the DNS cache, netsh ip reset etc and cannot ping the router IP, the icon for DSL connection (in bottom right hand corner) reports DSL not connected – the modem lights are on for wireless, USB, DSL & power. I have also tried to add a new connection but to no avail – any ideas?
