Internet Connection

I am in a small LAN connected to my system,
Broadband connection is also given through the same LAN,internet will be always connected when i connect the LAN cord to the system. Can Anybody suggest how to switch on/off the internet connectivity without disconnecting the LAN cord.
please I am loosing money for broadband for unnecessory connective time..
