internet connection sharing

by sweatmoore . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

hi. i have a quick question. i’m connecting to the internet using a wireless card and a laptop. the connection is a free wireless connection found in my neighborhood.

the laptop (or notebook for you young people 🙂 ) has an ethernet card built into it.

is it possible to share the internet connection through this ethernet card? making the laptop like a router. or even routing the connection through the ethernet card and losing internet capability on the laptop?

the purpose is due to having a vonage adapter/router with me and not being able to use it. the vonage adapter needs to be wired to the internet via an ethernet cable (normally directly to a cable/dsl modem). the idea is to wire it to the laptop. then plug my phone into the vonage adapter and be able to make some calls.

when i right-click on my wireless connection (under network connections) and click the advanced tab there is no ‘internet connection sharing’ box (only ‘windows firewall’ box).

hope that wasn’t confusing.

thank you
