Internet Explorer on Windows XP

We have a computer with XP Pro on when using Internet Explorer with Google or similar, when you click on the link the new page jumps forward to another seach page or worse. We have done all the usual thing like scanning for spyware, virus’s etc. Any ideas anyone its driving us nuts, thanks?
