Internet problems again

Ok heres the skinny people none of my applications can access the internet but it says im connected and i can ping the other computers on my network however i canot ping the routers ip address or any websites i tried google,yahoo and msn to no effect and this time i cannot access ftp sites either. I use avg 8 i uninstalled and reinstalled it to see if it was that still nothing.so any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance people.
