Introducing Windows Server 2008 into a 2003 domain?

I’ve recently ordered a new server to take the role as my PDC. This new server nicely comes with a license to Windows Server 2008 STD.

My network already has 6 2003 servers and my PDC is a 2003 server. We run XP pro on all workstations. (1300+ users and 800+ machines.)

So my question is, If I install server 2008 will it all be compatible with my current system? Especially if I have the 2008 sever become my PDC as planned…

I know that installing this new server as a PDC in 2003 will work fine. Do I just avoid the headache and stay with what works?
