Invisible Typing and Scrolling on IE 6 Win98SE

I have a Win98SE PC with IE 6. Lately, every time I’m on a web site with areas to type a search or selection, I cannot see my typing. It is a 2-3 second delay before my text will appear. In addition, when I scroll down or up it takes 20-30 seconds. I reinstalled IE6 and the service packs with no luck. What can I do?
