IP Address

Someone gave me an HP pavilion xe900 and I cannot connect to the internet (I have another post about that) when I type ipconfig/all it does not show any addresses;ipv4 address, subnet mask, default gateway,dhcp server or the dns servers. What am I doing wrong.And when I pull up my internet protocol properties there is nothing in any of the boxes;ip address, subnet mask and the default gateway. Please help me.
