I’m an absolute novice wrt networking, so this blog string really raises more questions than answers for me. I’m running an Actiontec Router (M1424R) supplied by Verizon FIOS with an ethernet bridge to an Airport Extreme rtr, a PC (XP/SP2), and two wireless Macs (an iMac and a Macbook) tethered to the A/E. IPv6 has not been implemented on the XP machine AFAIK.
Intuitively, I would expect to find control settings for IPv6 in the Actiontec rtr tables, but can’t find any. Does anyone know whether or not this Actiontec model supports IPv6 or where to look for controls? I’ve seen no ref. to IPv6 in the rtr control software.
Also, I’ve temporarily turned off IPv6 in the Macs, but noted that the link provided above giving instructions for doing so is old (refers to Tiger) but I’m running Leopard 5.7. Not sure whether or not I gain or lose by disabling IPv6 under Leopard. Also not sure whether or not it matters if I’m behind a router.
Any expansion of this discussion to touch on my questions will be appreciated.
