We are experiencing a strange problem on our network. I’ve set up a conditional login script based on the Hexadecimal rendition of the IP address using the NETWORK_Address variable.
The problem seems to be that some of our workstations are getting an IPX connection to the server, even though IP is set as the prefered protocol in the Novell 32-bit client, and is first in all the network bindings.
The problem only occurs on Windows NT 4 machines -Windows 2000 machines on the same subnet are ok.
Server is Netware 5.1, running both IP and IPX.
I know that I can change the conditions in the script to include the IPX address, but we plan to migrate to a pure IP environment, and I don’t want to put in something I’ll have to takeout in a few months.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
