ipx/spx protocol talks more than tcp/ip?

Why does the ipx/spx protocol broadcast so much? I have 5 winnt/2k servers and 3 netware servers on my LAN. Two of the netware servers are print servers. Why does netware account for 70 percent of the network traffic? Much of that seems to be broadcasts. Any ideas? Is there any thing that I should look for?
