Is a firewall on my server necessary?

Hi all,
I have an x series IBM server that connects through another computer that already runs a firewall (PC Tools Firewall Plus). Is it necessary to have my server firewalled or is it a waste of time doubling up? At present the both systems are running XP Pro.
