I’m curious how other IT teams are handling business email these days.
Moving everything to the cloud seems like the obvious choice for a lot of businesses, especially with services like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. But I’m not sure going completely cloud-only makes sense for every organization.
I’ve been looking into hybrid business mail setups where some services stay on existing infrastructure while other parts are handled through the cloud. It seems like this could be useful for businesses that have legacy systems, specific security requirements, or simply aren’t ready to move everything at once.
At the same time, I’m wondering how much extra work this creates for the IT team. Managing users, mail flow, security, backups, and two different environments could become complicated pretty quickly.
For anyone who has actually worked with Hybrid Mail, was it worth keeping part of the email infrastructure on-premises?
I’m also interested in how hybrid mail services fit into this. Do they make the transition between on-premises and cloud email easier, or is it usually better to pick one platform and move everything over?
I’d be interested to hear from anyone who’s managing a hybrid setup now, especially if you’ve gone through the process of moving from traditional mail servers toward a cloud-based environment. What worked well for you, and what would you do differently?
