Is if possible to create recovery disk for hp laptop a 2nd time

Had a friend give me an hp laptop dv4000. He was having power problems which I resolved and now have the laptop working. Only problem remaining is that he lost the recovery cds. Tried recreating from laptop but the recovery option is not there. Don’t feel like paying HP for another set. Is there anyway to create a set from the laptop that anyone is aware of?
