Is Network Specialist a Systems Administrator?

Im in college for Degree in Network Specialist and if I remember I picked the CISCO route instead of Unix/Linux….I went to school library for books and I didnt see no CISCO just mainly Unix Networking like a book about Systems Administration with Unix and such..Is it bascially the same thing or what?Even though im on CISCO option should I read that book?
