I am looking for a basic tool that can monitor our webserver for application errors as well as monitor the availability of our websites.
We have one self managed webserver hosted in a data center. I would like to install onto this server which will alert us by email (and ideally SMS) of any application or website errors that occur on the server.
We are a very small operation and as such do not have a dedicated IT network administrator/expert. Thus I am looking for an easy to install and use system. We don’t have dozens of servers that need monitoring – just the one. The monitoring tools would have to be installed on the live server so should ideally have small resource footprint.
Ideally it should be free, but don’t mind paying a reasonable fee – we’re talking at most 100s of dollars, NOT 1000s!
Is there such a thing.
