Issue printing from xp home to printer on xp pro

Hi,
We have here a xp pro domain with 1 or 2 xp home pcs.On one of the xp pro machines there is a printer attatched to it via the lpt port, the printer is shared and a handful of pcs print to it no problem. I have an xp home laptop that can connect to the printer no problem and print fine, the problem comes in when you restart the laptop. When you try print or access the properties of the printer it says access denied or unable to connect.
I have added the xp home user to the administrators account on the xp pro machine. I have also added the user to the permissions of the printer on the xp pro machine.
Any adive would be much appreciated.
