IT Career Transition

I’ve decided to transition from desktop/LAN support to customer technical support for web hosting/web design services. I’m totally bored, in a dead-end job in a stodgy corporate environment. After 15 years of supporting desktops & LANs, I want to try something new and have some fun at work. I’m training in Unix Fundamentals, Webmaster Essentials, Web Server Concepts, IIS, HTML and SQL DB/Server Administration. I feel I should be ready for a Tier I position by this time next year (with my previous IT experience and new skillset bundled). If anyone can give me any pointers, it would be greatly appreciated.
