Hi. I am Nirranjan and I am currently at student at University doing Bachelor of Information Systems, taking IT Mini Project as one of my papers. In this paper I am asked to do a project and given a networking scenario, I have to present a proposal to a team of lecturers, who are acting as our clients. I need help on how should I go about presenting a proposal. The scenario is as follows.
————————————————
Scenario.
Alfresco Distribution has until recently been a small organization employing 20 people in a single facility in Penrose, Auckland. We bring in a range of products aligned to the catering and hospitality industry, and sell them directly to trade customers.
Due to rationalization pressure, we have recently taken over a competitor, Damask Glassware & Crockery. This company has outlets in Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch with a total staff of 50.
The two companies will merge on June 1st, 2008 under the name of Apex Catering Supplies and we are seeking assistance with the design and implementation of a network infrastructure which will support the new organisation.
The two Auckland offices will move into common premises, and after the inevitable rationalizations, staff numbers are projected to be as follows:
Auckland ? 30
Wellington ? 20
Christchurch ? 10
We require an integrated network which offers the following:
? The ability to virtualise our server environment, and allow remote management
? A secure, managed internet connection which will allow us to operate our own Web site
? The ability to lock down certain workstations on the network and prevent changes to the configuration
? A consistent suite of productivity applications across the organisation
? The ability to accommodate laptops used by sales staff, and synchronise them to the network easily
? Provide access to centralised database of all our products, both by staff and by clients
? Reduce our infrastructure costs by using VOIP services between offices if possible
We anticipate that it may not be possible to utilize much of the existing infrastructure, but some form of migration strategy must be presented as part of the implementation plan.
