Keyboard/mouse stopped working

My keyboard/mouse USB plug was removed from the pc by accident while the pc was loading a video. The computer froze up so I powered it off not knowing at the time the keyboard was unplug. When I restarted the computer the mouse cursor was still frozen on the screen. So I checked the USB port and plugged the keyboard plug back in. I have to log on to get to my desktop and can’t since I can’t use my keyboard. The keyboard does work because I plugged it into my daughter’s computer so it’s not the hardware. Help me please!!
