KVM layout with DVI connections

I need some input on a little project I want to do.

I currently have a PC with Windows XP Pro that is hooked up to do dual monitors. I also have a Macbook Pro notebook computer.

I am looking into getting a KVM switch with DVI connections. The video card on my PC has two DVI ports, so each monitor is running from each port.

My initial plan is this:

– run a DVI cable from my Macbook Pro to the KVM
– run a DVI cable from my PC into the KVM
– get a DVI splitter and hook up both monitors to the splitter.

It sounds really easy, but I need to know if there is a catch.

Can a DVI signal be split to two monitors to be able to do dual screen?
