Labeling clients computer

Hi,
I’m looking for techniques on how to keep track of client’s computers. As far as location,o.s. etc. Also labeling the computers. Does anyone have a good method for doing this? I would prefer not to buy any 3rd party software to do this. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You.
