Laptop Battery Issue

I have an E-Machines M5312 Notebook. It comes with WinXP Home. I need to access my work domain, so I reloaded it with Win2K Pro. Now the battery only lasts 1 hour. I’ve also tried WinXP pro. Same thing. When I recover to factory setup the battery lasts 4 hours. Any thoughts on this?
