Laptop Death but Strange Data Problem

by ajhey . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

My Compaq Laptop died last night – total power failure. Taken to repairer – he said board problem – off to repairer. However he gave no suggestion there could be a data issue.

Needed the data immediately – no problem, I’ve now got the hard drive in a Noontec case.

Plugging into other laptop – no problem, computer recognises new Drive, seems like all data there, but… now I go to Documents and Settings:
Wife’s User account accessible all data there – good.

My User Account is inaccessible – says ‘access denied’, Properties yields 0 fle size for my folder. – argh!

I was logged into my account when computer turned off. Was working on an Access file on the desktop at the time. Have a hint that data is still there (a Norton virus scan does find files in my account- this was the only program available).

What should I do?
