LCD Monitor stays on and cannot switch off

My old Packard Bell SlimView SV500 LCD Monitor when switching on, the indicator stays green and monitor does not show a screen. The switch then will not turn off.
I can work comfortably on circuit boards but cannot find a manual on the net.
Has anyone any tips on this fault? Thanks.
