Lengthy synchronizing with Server 2008 when logging off of workstation

Hello,

I have a small LAN with 5 Windows XP Pro workstations and one Windows Server 2008 configured as a domain controller and file server.

On the workstations the My Documents directory is redirected to the file server.

When logging off there is a quick message stating that something is synchronizing with the server. Sometimes the process takes a couple minutes (according to the person telling me about this).

Any ideas as to what is happening and why it takes extra time sometimes?
