lexmark 3300 series all in one printer

I have set up home network via a netgear router, but my packard bell laptop canot find printer on network and therfore I cannot set up wireless printing.

My laptop is running windows vista home premium and the pc connected to the printer and usb router is windows xp home edition.

I tried connecting the all in one printer directly to the laptop. It starts the installation process and then it dissapears at the end without installing printer.
When I look in printer menu it is the but with an error, which I cannot determine.

Please, please can some one offer some advice as I am at my wits end.

Long and short of it is I would like to setup my printer so that I can access it wirelessly via my laptop.
