Limiting RPC ports on Windows Server 2003 64 bit

by donkashen . Updated 17 years, 8 months ago

Hi,

I’m having a problem limiting RPC ports on Windows Server 2003 64 bit edition. I followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/154596/ however, it doesn’t apply to 64 bit editions according to the article, and also according to the fact that it didn’t work on my server when I tried it.

Does anyone know if there’s an equivalent procedure to follow for 64 bit windows, or some other way to go about it? I’ve also tried doing it through component services rather than directly editing the registry and that hasn’t worked either. RPC is still using random high ports between 1024 – 5000.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Donna
