My office currently has a windows peer-to-peer network in place with a BEFSR1 Linksys router hooked to a broadband connection. We have a handful of people out in the field with notebook computers running win98 and XP. Do I need a VPN “server” on the LAN? or will this LinkSys VPN router establish the remote connections? I’m affraid that the Linksys BEFVP41 alone isn’t going to be enough. I keep reading that most people set up a Win2k or XP box on the LAN to manage the incoming VPN connections. I’ve asked this question to LinkSys support, but after a few days, still no response.
I just need to know all the pieces I need in place to make it so that 5 or so outside people can establish a VPN connection to our office network as easily (and inexpensively) as possible yet still be secure.
Any help would be appreciated.
