Linux or Windows 2000 OS????

now i know this is a no brainer. but i do graphic design,using dreamweaver,photoshop,3d max,and so on.now i also plan on getting a MaC G4 later next year and begin using that for graphics design.i guess at that point the new pc should run a version of linux and my mac run just 0s9.but until then a year from now.SHOULD I TRADE IN MY WINDOWS 2000 FOR LINUX? HOW HIGH ARE THE RISKS IN INCOMPATIBILITY PROBLEMS? WHATS THE STATUS ON MOST GRAPHICS PROGS ON LINUX?? GIVE ME SOME ADVICE
