Lockup in Access97

We have a small Novell 4.11 LAN with Win95 workstations. We run an Access97 database on all desktops. The w/s have 32mb ram. Some of the people are complaining that when they first open this database the terminal locks up. When they turn off the PC and rebooot, login and try again they are fine for the rest of the day. What could be wrong?
