Logging active users’ time and location

by tech . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

I’ve recently taken over as Network Manager in a school blessed with a NetWare 4.11 system.

In my old NT4-based job I had a Q&D solution to tracking who was on what w/station: scheduled a .CMD file that ran the ‘net session’ command every 20 min.s (or as needed) and appended the outcome to a log file.
Very successful and non-resource gobbling solution.

How can I do that under NetWare? Anyone got a hint? Or know of any 3rd party stuff that will do this and allow its output to be filed?
(I know about NLIST USER etc. It’s output doesn’t differentiate between w/stations that have live users and those that are now logged out or give info about when the users logged in and out.)
