I have ongoing issues making connections with SS7 via a one-way trust between a local LAN server and a VPN server. SS7 uses NT authentication, not SS. As the DBA, I have no domain rights, so I can’t easily check permissions, group rights, etc., and the NT admin blows off my questions. My jobs fail intermittently, when I’ve made no changes to them, and the NT Admins claim that that they’ve made no rights changes. When I create & schedule DTS packages from my workstation via MMC, they will run only if all the work is local to the LAN servers. If I create a package that requires data to move between a LAN server and a VPN server, many times it doesn’t work. This seems to depend upon which DBA login is used, but I can’t prove it.
