Logon Box Disappears

In Win98 SE, I am having a problem with the Network Logon box and Win password box. It seems that whenever the PC is booted, either password box stays on the screen for 4 seconds then disappears. Windows continues to load, then I must log off then log back onto log on successfully.

I believe the problem is related to passwords because when I try to add to the remote admin box in PW’s, I receive an error msg saying it cannot open address list. Does anyonehave anyidea how I can reset the PW’sor address book it is looking for?
