long file name removal

by lloyd . Updated 14 years, 2 months ago

I tried to defrag, but it found a problem and required a scan disk. During scan disk it could not complete because of the following

“ScanDisk was unable to correct this error because there is already a file or
folder named
‘;kw=geog+yes+capitals+their+and+states+the+are+what+web+jeeves+capitals+and
+states+fifty+ecom+states+fwww+http;site=askjeves;ag=64;ge=f;ap=0;st=5;ct=1;
NMR=807;OFB=%20;G4=8054;zp=95451;sz=468×60;ord=954426510.htm’ in the
top-level folder of this drive. To repair this error, quit ScanDisk by
clicking Cancel, rename the file in the top-level folder, and then restart
ScanDisk. To continue checking your disk without repairing this error, click
OK.”

When I search for the offending files, it comes up with about 8 but it does not allow me to rename them or delete. Using Windows Explorer I am unable to find/view these files even with show hidden files checked.

I am running Windows ME

Any suggestions?
