Greetings all. I am finally able to move away from our 10 and 100 base HUBS (shudder), and getting to move to a switched network.

Up till now, the only real investment I had been able to get was a 3Com 4400 switch for our core (24 port), and almost everything else was 3Com SuperStack hubs.
I have three remote locations, and the central location. I was able to change the remote cores to a Netgear FS726TP (24 port).

I am now looking to upgrade off of the 3Com 4400, which is 10/100 to something Gigabit.
I need at least 12 ports, but would prefer 24.
Must be manageable and support VLANS.
Of course, need QOS. (goes without saying?)

We are looking at going to IP phones within a year or so, so are upgrading our infrastructure a little at a time, so we don’t have to completely replace the network at THAT time, raising the costs of the IP phone system.
I am on a very tight budget, so the Cisco solution is out of the question.
Is there something you have used, or you regularly install for clients, that you can recommend?
If I have a 12 or 24 port Gigabit switch for my core, I can drop my 4400 as the secondary for this location, as I have about 32 connections in this building.
My main concern is getting our 7 servers, the uplink, the remote building, and my system on the gigabit. (did I say “my system” out loud?)
Include one port to the secondary (4400) and I am able to get by with the 12. Would MUCH rather have a 24 or 48, but will work with what is available/affordable.
