Really, I don’t know if this is the right place for this topic, but I thought I’d try. I found this site about two weeks ago and honestly can’t stop coming back. Since finding this website I’ve been compelled to learn as much as possible about anything computers. ****, I even went as far as reserving my aunt’s old computer for Windows Server use as soon as her new one arrives. Now understand where this is coming from: a 17 year old kid who, before finding this site, spent his hours not at his current job playing video games to pass the time.
A little more background info: I’ve been working with computers since before I remember. I first played a video game on the Sega when I could barely walk, built my first computer at about 7 years old, and since then, have been servicing and running the IT helpdesk for my family and friends. You’d think that someone at the age of 17, about to end high school, about to go to college, has a job already, would be stressed out by working with computers. I am, normally, but once I fix one I feel like I’ve accomplished so much.
What I want to discuss is sort of odd. I want to do something to make money with my IT skills. I’m not going to start charging the owners of the computers I’ve been fixing for years. I wouldn’t change their service for anything. I would like to hear any good ideas for possibly starting my own business or helpdesk or something. I just want a more productive way to spend my time rather than trying to hit level 70 in World of Warcraft. Really, I’ll take any criticisim be it good or bad. I just need some ideas or a way to be pointed in the right direction.
Thanks for any help!
