Looking for volunteer opportunity

Hi,
I am into transition from electrical engineering into software development. I am actually taking my last design class to become a software developer. I have a BS in engineering , a MBA in management, worked for Nokia for 10 year, laid off 2 years ago so i decided to take some classes toward software development since then. I has been hard to find an entry level in .Net around Dallas/Fort Worth. So I am looking to volunteer writing code in C#. I am also learning SQL server 2008. I am planning to do an MBA in Software engineering this fall 2009 in Dallas.Any Idea how to get my feet in the water?
