Lost IPad without WiFi access

How can I display a message on my lost iPad without it connecting to WiFi? I have a password on my iPad so if it is found they will not be able to connect to WiFi. Therefore the lost message will stay in pending and never display. This means there is no way for me to tell the finder how to contact me ?
