M1 MacBook Air not letting me change startup security

I’m trying to install a kernel extension to screen share with audio. But when I boot into recovery, it doesn’t ask me for administrator and then when try to change the security utility thingy it gives me both “no administrator was found” and “biometric accessory not connected” errors.
