MAC <=> PC

by iqoreq . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

Hi there,

A friend of mine has question which I think it will be an interesting topic to us here.
Please help if you have solution. Thanks..

My problem is I have a mac and a dell, but I only have
one monitor (I gave the other one away). Both
computers are relative new (a G3 and a dimension XPS
T800r). So, I don’t like to let one retired… Also,
there will be sofwares that is gear toward one
platform intead of the other.

Also, in the academic world, it is neccessary to learn
how to transfer file from one platform to another
because we always have both platform to play with.
That is why I am going in length to learn this.

Moreover, I like for the two computers to share a
printer (possible a scanner) which is not critical
now, but may be a good thing to learn.

I don’t like the idea to ftp files to a server,
because there will be a chance later that my files
contain sensitive information.

I am learning this in a broad way… meaning that I
want the ability to expand the network later on…
like adding a Unix… 🙂

Okie… that is as much as I can think of in
describing my problem…

Much appreciated, if you have any suggestions… Thanks
