Mail problem with Outlook 2003

I transfer a user from one windows machine to another and set up an account in MS outlook 2003.On clicking Send/Receive, all mails including those that have been read 1,2 or 3 months are also downloaded. This happens also when a new profile is created for the same user on the same machine for our mobile users.

Certainly it’s not my mail server problem.I run Gentoo mail server.Unix/Linux buddy says it is Outlook.

I need a solution,this whole thing eats so much of my bandwidth(I use ADSL connection).Any ideas will be appreciated
