Making AD work with XP

My question is simple, it just seems I am having trouble finding the answer. I am wanting to install and run the AD console from an XP pro machine. In Windows 2000 all I have to do is install the adminpak.msi and I can remotly manage AD from a workstation. But, the problem I am running into is that the adminpak.msi or windows2000 Server CD does not work with XP pro. So what do I need to do to get it to work. I know that it can be done, I just can not remember how. 🙁
